Henri DUFRESNE (Metis) born 1863 Fort a la Corne, married Marie/Mary CARDINAL in 1885.  Marie CARDINAL was born in 1865 at Moose Lake, died March 10, 1922 and was buried at St. Cyprien Cemetary in Meadow Lake SK.  Her father was Louison CARDINAL (Metis) a hunter and her mother was ETTIH-TI-HAN (Cree). Henri DUFRESNE was a freighter for the HBCo and the son of Edward/Edouard Francoise DUFRESNE.  Henry filed for a homestead in the county of St. Paul on or before April 10, 1909.  1885 Script # 1228, C-14938.

 


Edouard Francois DUFRESNE (Fr. Cdn.) was born in LaPrairie, Quebec. At the time of the 1891 Census he recorded his age as 93, and was living in the Fort Pitt.  He worked for the Hudson Bay Co. as a Cook with the Indian Dept. for over 50 years and after his retirement he still worked part time for the company.
